Jonie Lee Greer, resident of Columbia, TN, former longtime resident of the Somerville Community and retired co-owner of the J. T. Greer & Son Insurance and Accounting Agency in Somerville died Thursday afternoon, February 17, 2011 at his residence. He was 72 years of age and died following an extended illness.

with Rev. John Michael Krech of the First Presbyterian Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Greer was born March 18, 1938 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Armstrong Greer and J. T. Greer, Jr.
A Graduate of Fayette County High School and Lambuth College in Jackson, Mr. Greer was a former member of the Tennessee Air National Guard. He was a member of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Somerville Lion’s Club for many years. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Serena Crosswell Greer who died on January 3, 2002.
Mr. Greer is survived by his four children, Jonie Lee Thomas Greer, III of Nashville, TN, Mary Greer Scott (Darrell) of Greenback, TN, Jane Greer Scarbrough (George) of Braden, TN, David Lee Greer (Mary) of Thompson Station, TN, eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
