Jose Tomas Espinoza Martinez

Moscow, Tennessee

Jose Tomas Espinoza Martinez, age 80, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Marcaria Nunez Garcia, departed this life Saturday afternoon, January 18, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jose was born March 7, 1944 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the son of the late Tomas Espinoza and Victoria Martinez. He was employed as a construction worker for many years and was married in 1962 to Marcaria Nunez Garcia. He was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church in Somerville, Tennessee and enjoyed going to rodeos, dancing, music and partying. Jose will be remembered for being a hard worker who provided for his family and was outgoing and loved by all who knew him.

Mr. Espinoza is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marcaria Nunez Garcia; four daughters, Yolanda Espinoza (Antonio) of Jackson, TN, Maria Isabel Espinoza (Mario) of Whiteville, TN, Rosaelena Espinoza (Gregario) of Memphis, TN and Hortencia Espinoza (Ellido) of Somerville, TN; his son, Arturo Espinoza (Linn) of Moscow, TN; his sister, Rosa Espinoza of San Luis Potosí, Mexico; his brother, Pedro Espinoza of Tampico, Mexico; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Joaquin Tomas Espinoza and Felipeid Jesus Espinoza; three sisters, Maria Elena Espinoza Martinez, Ignaci Espinoza Martinez and Erminia Espinoza Martinez; and his brother, Elojio Espinoza Martinez.

A Funeral Mass for Mr. Espinoza was at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville with Father Robbie Favazza and Father Jim Martell officiating. Funeral Services were held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Father Robbie Favazza, pastor of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Mario Tovar, Jesus Tovar, Arturo Espinoza, Jr., Rafeal Espinoza, Sanfrancisco Espinoza, Samuel Espinoza and Alejandro Montoya.
