Josephine Edith (Shilling) Woodring

Josephine Edith Shilling Woodring, age 84, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late Homer Woodring, departed this life Thursday evening, September 28, 2023 at her home.

Josephine was born November 18, 1938 in Blanchard, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Earl E. Shilling and Iva Kessinger Shilling. She was married August 18, 1956 at Blanchard Church of Christ to Homer W. Woodring who preceded her in death on April 22, 2000. Josephine was employed at Penn State University in food service before her retirement. She was a member of Teamster Local #8 and was elected a board member for three years as a Trustee.

Mrs. Woodring was a former President of Friendly Citizens of Pleasant Gap, Pennsylvania and was a member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. She was a former secretary of the Pleasant Gap Food Bank and enjoyed playing Bingo and working on word puzzles.

Mrs. Woodring is survived by three children, Doug Woodring (Brenda) of Tennessee, Rod Woodring (Beth Reeder) of Florida and Pat Woodring (Tammy Watkins) of Pennsylvania; her sister, Joyce C. Spayd Sabatino of Ohio; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, James B. Ray, Mary Ann Ray, Sara Jane Shearer, Larry E. Shilling, Lynn R. Shilling and Cindy G. Spayd Smith.
