Joseph Lee “Joe” Looney, age 62, resident of Horn Lake, Mississippi, departed this life Monday morning, September 12, 2016 at his son’s residence in Horn Lake.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Looney were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Rickey Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Looney was born April 17, 1954 in Memphis. He received his education at Oakhaven High School and was employed as a maintenance and inventory specialist for a number of years before his retirement. Mr. Looney was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing, racing and muscle cars.
Mr. Looney is survived by his daughter, Barbara Griffith (Tim) of Arlington; his son, Joseph Wayne Looney (Bonnie) of Horn Lake, MS; five stepdaughters, Stormy Keenum (Jerry) of Olive Branch, MS, Stacey Ramey of Horn Lake, MS, Samantha Crum of Olive Branch, MS, Vicky Johnson of Southaven, MS, Crystal Murphy of Southaven, MS; three stepsons, Gene Ramey (Shana) of Southaven, MS, Charles Johnson (Tiffany) of Lake Cormorant, MS, Nason Soileau of Horn Lake, MS; his brother, George Looney (Connie) of Nesbit, MS; four grandchildren, Alicia Looney, Quentin Lemley, Alex Looney, Brandy Looney; 33 step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelious Looney and Elvie Akers Looney and his brother, Dennis Looney.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were James Crum, Matt Huff, Gene Ramey, Charlie Johnson, Shane Looney, Matt Vick, Danny Looney and Tim Looney.
