Annie Joyce Price Griffin, a longtime resident of the Williston Community and wife of the late Milton Griffin died Tuesday morning, July 12, 2011 at her residence. She was 72 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services honoring the life of Mrs. Griffin were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16 th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. Jack Price and Rev. Gene Price, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston with Rev. Richard Kilpatrick, officiating. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Fayette County, Mrs. Griffin was born August 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert Murray Price and the late LaVerne Ardale Jamerson Price, early residents of the Williston area. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville, Class of 1956. She was married August 23, 1957 to Milton Griffin, retired Fayette County Dairy Farmer and Employee of Fayette Equipment Company and Troxel Manufacturing Company, before his death on January 30, 2006.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Bethany Christian Church and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was a homemaker and was associated with her husband in the operation of their Dairy Farm. Mrs. Griffin was also a Certified Nursing Assistant and was employed at the National Healthcare Center and Methodist Fayette Hospital before her retirement. She also served as a Food Service Manager in area restaurants in earlier years. Mrs. Griffin will be remembered as a person devoted to her family and enjoyed vegetable gardening, crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her daughters: Amy LaVerne Griffin and Joyce Anne Glore, both of Cordova; her son, Michael Wayne Griffin of Somerville; three grandchildren: David Allen Glore (Jada), Marlena Elise Glore and Rachel Michelle Glore and her beloved Pet Companion, “Opie”.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Cody Markham, Gary McCaskill, Shelby Glore, David Price Michael Hendrix and Tommy Markle.
Honorary casketbearers were David Glore, Elzie Price, Mike Thomas, David Ashcraft and Johnny Treadway.
