DARLENE JOYCE MOEN VOYLES, retired First Tennessee Bank Employee and a resident of both the Laconia Community and Memphis, died at 9:45 P.M. Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was 67 years of age and died following a two-month illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Voyles were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, October 12th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland with the Rev. David Ruff, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Voyles was born in Bremerton, Washington on October 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter Moen and the late Lenora Giese Moen. She was a graduate of the Kitsap County High School in Bremerton, Washington and moved to West Tennessee a number of years ago. She was employed in the Retail Credit Department of the First Tennessee Bank in Memphis for over 30 years before her retirement eight years ago.
Mrs. Voyles was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and for a number of years had enjoyed sharing her time in Memphis and at her farm in the Laconia Community.
Mrs. Voyles will be remembered as a family oriented person who enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and special times at the family farm. A special pet in her life was her pot-bellied pig, "Babe" who she cared for devotedly since infancy.
Survivors of Mrs. Voyles include her son, Gary Voyles (Debbie) of Bartlett; her grandchildren: Erin and Nathan Littlejohn and Amanda and Ryan Voyles and her great-grandchildren, Kaydan and Jordan Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Lynn Voyles Gandy on May 30, 2005.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were family members and friends.
