JUDY CAROL EVANS, a resident of the Morris Chapel Community near Somerville, formerly of Memphis and Home Health Aide Preceptor with Caris HealthCare died Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for one week. She was 60 years of age.
Funeral services for Ms. Evans were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, August 28th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with remarks and reflections given by Joyce Glore and David Daoust. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
A Daytona Beach, Florida native, Ms. Evans was born August 22, 1949.
She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Memphis and completed her education by receiving an Associate's Degree.
Ms. Evans worked previously as an Analyst with Travelers Insurance for 25 years and also as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Baptist East Hospital in the Cancer Ward for 6 years.
Most recently employed with Caris HealthCare Systems, she was a recipient of the Caris World Class Award for the West Region in 2008 for Hospice Aide of the Year.
Survivors of Ms. Evans include her sister, Eva C. Fletchall of Pocahontas, TN; her brother, Mike Mangialardi of Somerville; nieces: April Fletchall, Molly Mangialardi and Katye Mangialardi and her nephew, Joe Mangialardi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Betty Mangialardi, founders of DeSoto Motors, Inc. in Southaven, Mississippi.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Pat Smith, Ed Stone, Chet Whitsitt, Lee Stone, David Daoust and Kevin Smith.
