Judy Morrisson Sanders, lifelong resident of the Somerville Community and retired bookkeeper for Farmers Hardware in Somerville died Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2011 at her residence. She was 55 years of age and died following an illness of several months.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Sanders were held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 16th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Wayne Craig of Somerville officiating. At Mrs. Sanders request, her body was donated to the University of Tennessee Research Center.
Mrs. Sanders was born July 12, 1956. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin Wayne Morrisson and Grace Marie Crafton Morrisson. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was of the Baptist faith and in earlier years, served for a brief time in the United States Army.
A multi-talented person who had many interests throughout life, Mrs. Sanders served as a bookkeeper for the Farmers Hardware in Somerville for a number of years and will also be remembered as the first female truck driver in Fayette County. She was accomplished in archery skills and enjoyed both art and painting. Preparing special food for her family and friends and enjoying special times with her family were an important part of her life. In recent years she enjoyed her pet cat, “Jesse”.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband, David W. Morrison of Somerville; her daughter, Bailia Sanders Chomyk (Adam) of Oakland; two sisters, Brenda Solley (Mike) of Stanton, TN, Shelia Laughter (David) of Mason; and her brother, Rick Morrisson of Pass Christian, MS.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 16845 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
