Julia Masano Stephens, age 65, of Arlington, Tennessee, transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, July 26th, after a brief fight with cancer. She was a loving and beautiful wife and a dedicated mother and grandmother.
Julia was born on August 09, 1958, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to Masano and Julian Marbut. Her life was one distinguished by service to others. She served as a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard as a Med Tech from 1992-2015, where she met her husband of 27 years, Alan Stephens. On Thanksgiving, she would make two Thanksgiving meals - one for her family and one for the security guards at the base who had to work on the holiday.
After retiring, Julia continued pouring her deep heart and boundless energy into serving her community. She volunteered at Fayette Cares helping women in crisis. She also assisted in spaying and neutering cats at Arlington Animal Clinic through Whisker Wishes and the homeless animal relief project (HARP). She received the Fayette Cares Volunteer of the Year Award for Leadership Excellence in 2020 for her wholehearted commitment to helping others.
In addition to acts of service, Julia took pleasure in being a dog mother to Ms. Taeko and Bonnie Jean, completing puzzles, painting and coloring, eating her weight in seafood, cutting up with friends, tackling new paint projects, gardening, and constantly rearranging her home.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Stephens; her son, James York and wife Kristie, stepson, Tony Stephens and wife, Jessica; stepdaughter, Rebecca Stephens; and grandchildren, Sage Lamier, Lilah Catron, Rayne Stephens, Bertie Lucas, Tristan Lucas, and Jackson Ingram.
Memorial Services for Julia were held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private.
