JULIAN OTIS WILLIAMS

January 6, 1937 — January 12, 2008

JULIAN OTIS WILLIAMS, resident of Oakland, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he was taken after involvement in a one vehicle accident that occurred in LaFayette County, Mississippi earlier in the day. He was 71 years of age.

Funeral services for Mr. Williams were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 17th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton, officiating. Interment was in the Macon Cemetery at Macon. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Williams was born January 6, 1937, in Ellijay, Georgia, the son of the late Julian Williams and the late Stella Cardin Williams. He was educated in the public school system of Monroe County, Tennessee and was employed as a heavy equipment operator and a plumber for Ronnie Bass Plumbing for a number of years before his retirement one year ago.

Mr. Williams had been a resident of the Oakland area of Fayette County since 1973. He was a former resident of Lakeland, Florida and was married in 1988 to the former Betty Ann German who preceded him in death April 24, 2005.

Mr. Williams was of the Methodist faith and his interests included country music, singing and older vehicles.

Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Sue Williams of Oakland, Nellie Crooms, Sharon Williams, Andy Williams, Donnie Wiliams, Frankie Williams, Ronnie Williams, all of Oxford, MS and Leon Williams of Sardis, MS; his step-children, Linda Adair of Williston, James Logan, Danny Logan, Carl Logan, Jimmy Logan, all of Somerville; his sister, Ruth Bartley of Aiken, South Carolina; two brothers, Benton Williams of St. Augustine, Florida, Harold Williams of Blairsville, GA and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Danny Logan, Charles Logan, Danny Logan, Jr., Bill Myers, Billy Joe Hardin, Curtis Hardin, Carl Freeman and Tony Maxwell.

The family request that memorials be directed to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.
