Julie Mae Arrans Thompson Staggs

JULIE MAE ARRANS THOMPSON STAGGS, a resident of Spokane, Washington and former resident of Fayette County, died at 1:51 P.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Spokane Hospice House in Washington State. She was 66 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Staggs were conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Eddie Martin of Brownsville, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in District 15 of Fayette County. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Staggs was born April 7, 1942, in New Albany, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Johnny Higgins Arrans and the late Toy Emily White Arrans. She was educated in the public school system of Fayette County and was first the wife of John William Thompson who preceded her in death. Mrs. Staggs was later married to J.C. Staggs who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Staggs was a homemaker and was co-owner of Big John's Dairy Bar and Service Station in the Oakland area. She had been a resident of Oakland for several years before moving to Ripley, Tennessee where she owned and operated a Country Store before her retirement.
Mrs. Staggs enjoyed car rides with her family while observing the countryside, stopping for a glass of sweet tea and playing bingo with her friends. She will be remembered for her welcoming smile, her sense of humor and her Southern charm. Mrs. Staggs will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Mrs. Staggs is survived by five sons, William W. Thompson (Kendra) of Spokane, WA, Phillip R. Thompson (Stacy) of Ripley, TN, Charles Jeffery Thompson (Tracy) of Cadiz,KY, Sammy Staggs of Stanton, David Staggs of Brownsville; two sisters, Blondie Cupples of Arlington, Linda Mitchell (Larry) of Kileen, TX; two brothers, Jimmy Arrans (Bertie) of Byhalia, MS, Jessie Arrans of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers included Shaun Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Tyler Staggs and Tommy Thompson.
