Katherine Eileen Whittemore

Katherine Eileen “Kathy” Whittemore, resident of the Somerville Community departed this life Tuesday evening, August 14, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. She was 46 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Miss Whittemore were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, August 19th at the Harmony Baptist Church at Whiteville with Rev. Butch Westover, pastor of the church officiating. Special music was provided by Benny Morrison. Interment followed in the Harmony Cemetery near Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Miss Whittemore was born July 19, 1967 in Somerville, the daughter of Wilbur Whittemore and Alchie Woodard Whittemore. “Kathy” was a special child of God and will be remembered for her love of life, her ever present smile and her gentle spirit. She loved her family and everyone that she came in contact with. She was a familiar figure in the community, waving to others while in her wheelchair. Kathy was a Christian who served as an inspiration to all that knew her. She loved happy music and all kinds of gospel music and was much loved by her family and friends and her “extended family” at National Health Care Center in Somerville.

Miss Whittemore is survived by her parents, Wilbur and Alchie Whittemore of Somerville; four sisters, Shelia Martin of Medina, TN, Deborah Warren of Whiteville, TN, Rita Chan of Memphis, Gail Hartmann of Somerville; her brother, Wilbur Whittemore, Jr. of Somerville; and a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilburn Whittemore and Michael Whittemore.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Miss Whittemore’s nephews and family members.
