KATHERINE LEE BROWN WILDER

June 21, 1928 — July 3, 2008

KATHERINE LEE BROWN WILDER, resident of the Germantown Community for 46 years, and wife of Dr. William Wiggins Wilder, a native of Fayette County, died July 3, 2008 at her Germantown residence. She was eighty years of age and died following an extended illness of several months.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wilder were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7th at the Braden United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Feuerbach, Pastor of the Germantown Presbyterian Church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Jim Stubbs, Pastor of the Braden United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the Belmont Cemetery near Braden.
Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel of Somerville.

A native of DeQuincy, LA, Mrs. Wilder was a 1950 Accounting Graduate of the Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK. She was married in 1954 to Dr. Wiggins Wilder, a longtime Memphis Ophthalmologist before his retirement.

Mrs. Wilder was a member of the Germantown Presbyterian Church, and served for a number of years as an assistant in Dr. Wilder's medical practice. She was active in community and civic affairs that included membership in Poplar Estates Garden Club, the American Association of University Women and the Memphis and Shelby County Medical Alliance.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Elizabeth Anne Wilder Gould (John) of Maumelle, AR and Janet Marie Wilder Bill (John) of Winter Park, FL; a son, James Dwight Wilder (Paula) of Memphis; her brother, Dwight Moody Brown, Jr. of Shreveport, LA and 7 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. William "Bill" Wilder of Somerville, her sister, Sarah Jordan and her parents, Dwight Moody Brown and Sarah Elizabeth Boudinot Brown.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Shelton Wilder, David Wilder, Joseph Wilder, Jared Wilder, John Wilder and Ray Jordan.

George Price, James H. Shelton and John Shelton Wilder served as honorary casketbearers.
