KATHY LUCILLE KNIGHTON EMANUS

KATHERINE LUCILLE KNIGHTON EMANUS, a resident of the Oakland Community and wife of Lonnie J. Emanus died at 9:10 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at her home on Gordon Drive where she had lived for the past thirty-three years. She was 75 years of age and died following an extended illness of several years.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emanus were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 8th at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville with Deacon Mike Blome, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Emanus was born February 15 1934 in McKenzie Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Knighton and Clara Riggs Knighton.

She was married February 3, 1949 to Lonnie J. Emanus, retired Fayette County Tile and Marble Contractor who survives.

Mrs. Emanus was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and was a loyal member of the St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.

She was active in Cub Scout Programs during the tender years of her children and was a resident of Shelby County before moving to Fayette County thirty-three years ago.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, Mrs. Emanus is survived by her daughter, Debra Sims of Bartlett; her son, Mike Emanus of Hickory Withe; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Shane Beshires, Lonnie Michael Emanus, Matt Emanus, Andy Holland, Bobby Holland and Tim Holland.
