Kelly Jo Creager Horton, age 58, resident of Memphis, Tennessee and wife of Rodney Horton, departed this life Thursday afternoon, January 17, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Horton was held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Whitten Memorial Baptist Church in Memphis with Pastor Jeff Shipley officiating. Interment was in the Raymond Cemetery in Raymond, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.

Kelly was born November 6, 1960 in Hartford City, Indiana, the daughter of Dee Ramsyer Creager and the late William Clyde “Bill” Creager. She was married January 1, 2002 to Rodney Horton in Indiana and received her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Phoenix. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Bartlett and was employed as an office manager at the Mid-South Coliseum for many years. Kelly enjoyed crocheting (especially for her great-grandson), baking, listening to Elvis Presley music, reading Stephen King novels, watching Harry Potter movies and special times with her family. She will be remembered for being a selfless person who had been a caregiver to many children over the years.

Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband of 17 years, Rodney Horton of Memphis, TN; three daughters, Misty Krause (Kevin) of Batesville, AR, Mercedes Watkins (Justin) of Memphis, TN, Brittany Horton of Memphis, TN; her son, Kyle Horton of Memphis, TN; her mother, Dee Creager of Brandon, MS; her sister, Sheree Conley (Doug) of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Michael Creager of Brandon, MS, Jason Creager of Evansville, IN; two grandchildren, Amber Campbell (Travis) of Plainwell, MI, Ronald Krause of Batesville, AR; her great-grandson, Dawson Campbell; and her best friend, Gerry Dove of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Clyde “Bill” Creager; two sisters, Bobbie Chapman, Connie Ogle; and her brother, William Clyde Creager, Jr.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Travis Campbell, Ronald Krause, Kyle Horton, Kevin Krause, Justin Watkins and Michael Creager.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
