KENNETH MORRIS PRUETT, a resident of Mississippi and retired equipment operator, died Sunday morning, Aug. 3, 2008, at the residence of his grandson on Locke Drive in Somerville. He was 83 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Pruett were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7th at the Graveside, with the Rev. Jim Vance, officiating. Interment followed in the Moreland Cemetery near Calhoun City, Mississippi. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Calhoun County, Mississippi, Mr. Pruett was born July 19, 1925, the son of the late Elmer W. Pruett and the late Carrie Evie Russell Pruett. He was educated in the Mississippi Public School System and was a self-employed heavy equipment operator for a number of years before his retirement.
Mr. Pruett's survivors include one son, Clay Pruett of Byhalia, MS; one grandson, Kenny Lamar Pruett (Sheryl) of Somerville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Ashley Pruett of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Drew Pruett and Kayla Pruett; two sisters, Mary Laura Williams of Calhoun City and Orena Mitchell Peatoress of Pell City, Ala.; one nephew, Bud Taylor of Calhoun City.
