Kenneth Darrell Watkins

Kenneth Darrell Watkins, age 63, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Sandra Thomas Watkins, departed this life Thursday afternoon, December 6, 2018 at his residence.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Watkins was held at 12 Noon Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville. The officiating ministers were Bro. Billy Adair, Bro. John Ed Watkins and Bro. Matthew Watkins. Interment followed in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Kenneth was born February 12, 1955 in Somerville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School and was a resident of the Somerville and Oakland areas for all of his life. He was married January 4, 1993 to the former Sandra Thomas and he was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Kenneth enjoyed baseball, playing pool, canoeing, camping and horseback riding. He will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Thomas Watkins of Oakland, TN; two daughters, Wendy King (Richard) of Somerville, TN, Sherri Watkins of Somerville, TN; his son, Samuel Watkins of Somerville, TN; three sisters, Hazel Taylor (Edward) of Memphis, TN, Nelle Burgess (Ross) of Middleton, TN, Ava Pulliam (Harlan) of Somerville, TN; seven brothers, Joe David Watkins (Robbie) of Middleton, TN, John Ed Watkins (Donna) of Hickory Valley, TN, Leon Watkins (Dale) of Somerville, TN, Ray Watkins of Somerville, TN, Jerry Watkins (Karen) of LaGrange, TN, Jimmy Watkins (Shelia) of Somerville, TN, Timothy Watkins (Andrea) of Hickory Valley, TN; his brother-in-law, Gary Joyner of Somerville, TN; and twelve grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Anderson Watkins and Ava Hazel Gammel Watkins; his son, Steven Watkins; and his sister, Lisa Joyner.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jerry Watkins, Bryan Hughes, Timmy Watkins, Jimmy Watkins, Billy Gammel and Leon Watkins. Honorary pallbearers included Richard King.
