LARRY ROGER BRILEY, a resident of Memphis and former resident of Grand Junction and Bolivar died Sunday morning, March 7, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was 80 years of age.
Funeral services for Mr. Briley were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, March 10th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Kim Kulow of Memphis, former Pastor of the Grand Junction United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with Military Recognition followed in the Grand Junction Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Xenia, Ohio, Mr. Briley was born March 22, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph E. Briley and Nola Ary Briley.
He was educated in the Xenia, Ohio Public School System and served in the United States Navy during the World War II Period.
Mr. Briley was married February 13, 1965 to the former Mary Faulkner, who preceded him in death in November of 1993.
Mr. Briley was employed by the Defense Depot in Memphis for many years before his retirement.
In later years, he was a resident of Grand Junction, Tennessee where he operated his construction business. After the death of Mrs. Briley, he resided in Bolivar and Memphis.
He was a member of the Grand Junction United Methodist Church and his pleasures included traveling, coon hunting, fishing and all out of door activities.
Mr. Briley is survived by two daughters, LeAnn Lucas of Cape Girardeau, MO and Linda Glen of Mobile, AL; three sons: Timothy Briley of Jackson, MS; James Briley of Bond, MS and Richard Briley of Woodlands, TX; his sister, Shirley Allmon of Macon, GA; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Timothy Briley, Chris Butler, Mike Butler, David Lucas, Hunter Lucas and Lee Smith.
