Lawrence Warren "Larry" Forrester, age 70, resident of Somerville and husband of Kay Jordan Forrester, departed this life Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Forrester were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Somerville First Baptist Church with Bro. Stan Smith, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Forrester was born February 27, 1946 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arvin Forrester, Sr. and Lelia Sargent Forrester. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1964 and served his country in the United States Air Force in 1964, the United States Navy in 1968 and the Air National Guard from 1976 until 2001, during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm periods, having served a total of 35 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
Mr. Forrester was married October 6, 1973 to the former Kay Jordan and he was a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church. Mr. Forrester was employed as a deputy for the property assessor’s office in the early 80’s and he also served as Fayette County Assessor of Property and was a certified real estate appraiser until his retirement in 2006 in the firm his son operates today. Mr. Forrester enjoyed spending time on the lake and old cars.
Mr. Forrester is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kay Jordan Forrester of Williston; his son, Stephen Forrester (Rebecca) of Somerville; two grandchildren, Mary Agnes, Phoebe Ellis; and two sisters, Sydney Forrester and Mary Forrester King.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Forrester, Jr. and three sisters, Betty Forrester Callendar, Hazel Forrester and Sarah Forrester Wiles.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Peter Forrester, Andy Forrester, Jimmy Jordan, Johnnie Pattat, David Fortune and Mark Bennett.
