Larry Joe Jacobs

December 14, 1950 — May 2, 2013

Larry Joe Jacobs, resident of Corinth, Mississippi, native of the Middleton Community and husband of Maria Jacobs departed this life Thursday evening, May 2, 2013 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN where he had been a patient for five days. He was 62 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Jacobs were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, May 9th at the North Corinth Baptist Church in Corinth, MS with Bro. Bill Wages of the church officiating. Interment will be private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Jacobs was born December 14, 1950 in Middleton, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avasta Carol Jacobs and Annie Allene Gates Jacobs. He received his education in the Hardeman County Public School System and continued his education in Memphis. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was married April 28, 1978 to Maria Hendrica VandeGoor, who survives.

Mr. Jacobs had been an employee of the Caterpillar Equipment Company in Corinth for 38 years before his retirement in 2011. He was a member of the North Corinth Baptist Church and will be remembered for his work ethic and his willingness to offer a “helping hand” to family and friends. He was refered to many as a “Jack of All Trades” who had a passion for vintage John Deere tractors. He was blessed with the ability to repair all kinds of tractors and machinery and enjoyed serving as a handyman.

In addition to his wife of 34 years, Mr. Jacobs is survived by his son, Clint Anstead of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Marjie Darling (George) of Pocahontas, TN, Betty Jacobs of Middleton; his brother, Wade Jacobs of Middleton; two grandchildren, Caelan Anstead, Lacey Anstead; two nieces, Tabitha Jacobs of Middleton, Carol Gould of Denver, CO; and two nephews, Chris Darling of Pocahontas, TN and Jeremy Darling of Pocahontas, TN.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the North Corinth Baptist Church, 3311 N. Polk Street, Corinth, MS 38834.
