Larry Gene DeFoor, age 76, resident of the Mason Community and husband of Peggy Adkison DeFoor, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. DeFoor were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, January 17th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. DeFoor was born January 25, 1938 in Macon, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnie Lester DeFoor and Mattie Lou Culver DeFoor. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married January 25, 1980 to Peggy Adkison, who survives. Mr. DeFoor was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was a devoted member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Mr. DeFoor is survived by his daughter, Debbie Lemmon of Mason; four sons, Eddie DeFoor of Oakland, Carlton "Bubbie" DeFoor (Ellen) of Somerville, David DeFoor of Oakland, Don DeFoor (Theresa) of Oakland; two stepsons, Dale Smith (Debra) of Jupiter, FL, Frankie Smith (Tammy) of Jupiter, FL; two sisters, Gay Hillman (Richard) of Houston, TX, Sandra Kemmerling (Billy) of Somerville; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter DeFoor and his stepson, Keith Smith.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Roger Knight, Larry Saylors, Joseph DeFoor, Derrick DeFoor, Jeremy Smith and Randy Pugh. Honorary casketbearers were Jacob Pilkington and Charlie Pugh.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Morris Chapel Baptist Church, 475 Feathers Chapel Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
