LAURA ELLEN BROLASKI FORD

LAURA ELLEN BROLASKI FORD, a resident of the Oakland Community, former resident of Memphis and wife of the late Jack Ford died Tuesday morning, November 3, 2009 at the Humboldt General Hospital in Humboldt, Tennessee. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.

A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Ford was conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, November 6th at the Graveside with Deacon Ken McCarver of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Calvary Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Ford was born April 23, 1923 in Memphis and was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar M. Brolaski and Elizabeth Woods Brolaski.

She received her education in the Memphis Public School System and for over thirty years served as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for the Medical Practice of Dr. J. E. Duncan in Memphis. She was then employed by the Crabtree Eye Clinic in Memphis before her retirement.

Mrs. Ford was the wife of Jack Ford who died fifty years ago as the result of a vehicle accident.

She was an active member of her community for many years participating in numerous activities that included the Memphis Aquarium Club and a Memphis area Ceramic Club.

She was a devout member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis as long as health permitted and in recent years moved to the Oakland Community to reside with her niece before becoming a resident of the Humboldt Manor Healthcare Center two years ago.

Survivors of Mrs. Ford include her niece and caregiver, Janet Fedor and husband Stephen of Oakland; her great-niece, Celeste Anne Fedor of Bartlett; her great-great-niece, Marissa Banton and her great-great-nephew, Scott Banton, both of Bartlett.
