Laura Leola Glover Joyner, age 75, resident of Tupelo, Mississippi, native of Fayette County and wife of Hillard N. Joyner, departed this life Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Joyner were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. The officiating ministers were Bro. Jack Washington of Tupelo, Mississippi and Bro. Gary Joyner of Williston. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Williston Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Joyner was born April 21, 1941 in Fayette County. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a former resident of the District 15 Community and Memphis. In 1979, she was married to Hillard Newsom Joyner and they resided in the Tupelo, Mississippi area. Mrs. Joyner was employed as a demonstration supervisor for Wal-Mart before her retirement. She was a member of the New Chapel Church in Tupelo, Mississippi and enjoyed flowers and special times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Joyner is survived by her husband of 37 years, Hillard N. Joyner of Tupelo, Mississippi; three daughters, Brenda Edwards of Hernando, Mississippi, Rita Harlow of Tupelo, Mississippi, Tina Byrd of Nesbit, Mississippi; four sons, Donald Perrigo of Jackson, Tennessee, Jerry Perrigo of Mantachie, Mississippi, Mickey Joyner of Tupelo, Mississippi, Johnny Perrigo of Horn Lake, Mississippi; three sisters, Lelia Feathers of Somerville, Bill “Nanny” Michaels of Booneville, Mississippi, Beverly McClure of Red Banks, Mississippi; her brother, Billy Glover of Somerville; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Richard Glover and Bertha Perry Glover; her son, Robert “Bubba” Joyner; and eight brothers and sisters.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Lynn McClure, Herbert Pittman, Ronnie Pittman, Richard Wayne Glover, Chris Glover and Brian Smith. Honorary pallbearers included Brother Perrigo and Junior Glover.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
