Laurie Hampton
1969—2011
Laurie Leigh Hampton, resident of the Arlington Community and former Tennessee Department of Transportation employee died in Memphis Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2011. She was 41 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Laurie were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 23

at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Ray Lovelady of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Middleton, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Somerville, Laurie was born June 16, 1969 the daughter of Bill and Jeanette Lemmon Hampton. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was of the Methodist Faith. Laurie was employed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation for a number of years before retiring for health reasons. She will be remembered as a person who loved the outdoors. Laurie was a people person who enjoyed fellowship with her family and friends.
Laurie is survived by her sons: Brandon Rogers of Arlington, TN, Brian Shipman of Lakeland, TN; her parents: Bill and Jeanette Hampton of Arlington; her sister: Ginny Rutledge of Washington, D.C.; her brother: Sonny Hampton (Amy) of Cordova, TN; her maternal grandparents: Louis and Carolyn Lemmon of Galloway and a special childhood friend: Lisa Bullock of Arlington. Laurie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Bailey and Pearl Hampton.
