Laurine Rose Masters Hoard, known as “Mom”, age 93, resident of Somerville, departed this life Friday evening, April 14, 2017 at the Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hoard were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. James Weir, pastor of the Pleasants Christian Church in Rossville, officiating. Personal remarks were given by Kimberly Thomas, Shannon Hoard Kee, Jimmy Hoard and Audrey Williams. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Hoard was born August 10, 1923 in White Rock, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Felix Masters and Essie Goff Masters. She received her education in the Whitton, Arkansas School System and was employed as a file clerk for Smith & Nephew in Memphis and was also a waitress at various restaurants before retiring. Mrs. Hoard was a member of the Decatur Trinity Christian Church in Bartlett and will be remembered as a caregiver to many people. She enjoyed quilting, crafting ceramic animals and glass flowers, buying crystal, costume jewelry and cooking. She had a special love for her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Hoard is survived by three sons, Elvis Earl Hoard (Paula) of Somerville, TN, Elvie Lee Hoard (Debbie) of Bartlett, TN and Billy Ray Hoard (Linda) of Somerville, TN; two sisters, Harriett Ellis of West Memphis, AR and Adah Holcomb of Harrisburg, AR; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Todd Hoard, Larry Wayne Hoard, Michael Earl Hoard, Kimberly Renee Thomas, Shannon Leigh Hoard Kee, Nicholas Ray Hoard and Danny Paul Logan, Jr.; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeannie Laurine Hoard; her son, Larry Wayne Hoard; three sisters, Eleanora Allred, Juanita Stevens and Mary Ann Masters; and eight brothers, Lorin Masters, Gilbert Masters, Albert Masters, Byron Masters, Myron Masters, Howard Masters, Roy Masters, Jr. and Darlo Masters.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jimmy Hoard, Larry Hoard, Nicholas Hoard, Richard Kee, Danny Logan, Jr., Lee Williams and Wayne Lowrie. Honorary pallbearers were Ethan Thomas, Aaron Williams and Connor Hoard.
