Lawrence Isic Markle

March 31, 1930 — November 28, 2007

Lawrence Isic Markle, resident of the Yum Yum Rd. in Fayette County, retired builder and husband of Martha Kinney Markle, died at 7:45 A.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at his residence. He was 77 years of age.

Funeral Services for Mr. Markle were conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, November 30th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Carey Womack and Rev. Rickey Burns officiating. Interment followed in the Morning Sun Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Lakeland and Shelby County. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel.

Mr. Markle was born March 31, 1930 in the Laconia Community, the son of the late Claudie Markle and the late Gaither Kee Markle. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School system and was married June 24, 1950 to the former Martha Dell Kinney who survives.

Mr. Markle was a self-employed builder and was a longtime resident of Fayette County. He was an active member of the Morning Sun Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he formerly served as an elder and deacon. He enjoyed animals and vegetable gardening. Throughout his long career as a builder he often commented, "I was a house builder-you have to build the HOME yourself."

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Dianne Scribner and Jo Smith of Somerville; son Kinney Markle of Somerville; sister Elizabeth South of Memphis; three brothers: Thomas Markle of Chicago, IL; Junior Markle and Vernon Markle, both of Somerville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Michael Credille, Dustin Sykes, Ray Markle, Ronald Markle, Lloyd Rosson and Joshua Rosson.

The family request that Memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, c/o Christine Parks, 402 Midland Street, Somerville, TN 38068, in honor of David Markle's memory.
