L.C. Glover, age 75, resident of Jackson, Tennessee, United States Air Force Veteran and husband of Polly Cook Glover, departed this life Friday afternoon, December 19, 2014 at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.
Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Glover will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 27th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Herman A. Rogers, pastor of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Milton, Florida, officiating. A visitation for Mr. Glover will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, December 26th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment will follow in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Glover was born September 3, 1939 in Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laymon Cleven Glover, Sr. and Fannie Polk Morris Glover. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1957. He served his country in the United States Air Force as a young person. He was married July 14, 1978 to the former Ethel Pauline (Polly) Cook, who survives.
Mr. Glover was a former resident of Bolivar, Tennessee and Dickson, Tennessee before moving to Jackson, Tennessee. He was employed as a route salesman for Colonial Bread for over 30 years before his retirement. He helped open the Sonic Drive-In at Dickson in 1979 and also served as a bus driver for Jackson-Madison County Schools for 12 years before retiring in 1997. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed sightseeing, traveling, tinkering with his old truck and working.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Mr. Glover is survived by his daughter, Tina Ray of Medina, TN; two sons, Larry Glover (Molly) of Piedmont, SC, Captain Robert Glover of Minot, ND; four sisters, Louise Morgan of Somerville, Lois Sitler of Atlantic Beach, FL, Patricia Biebers (Gaylon) of Dallas, GA, Joyce Gordan of Memphis; four brothers, James "Jimmy" Glover (Yvonne) of Memphis, Robert "Bobby" Glover (Pat) of Somerville, Harold "Tommy" Glover of Somerville, Herbert Glover (Pat) of Bartlett; five grandchildren, Kenny Ward, Rebbeca Glover, Austin Elder, Larry Glover, Jr., Robert Glover; and one great grandson, Bryson Ward.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Glover.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Kenny Ward, Austin Elder, Evan DeLoach, Larry Glover, Jr., Larry Glover, Robert GLover, Ray Cook and Randy Glover.
Honorary casketbearers will be Robert Glover and Bryson Ward.
