Leland Phil Wallace

Leland Phil Wallace, age 68, resident of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, native of Somerville, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2015 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Wallace will be conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with his brother-in-law, Rudy Doyle of Oakland, officiating. A Private Interment will be in the Oakland City Cemetery. A visitation for Mr. Wallace will be from 9:30 to 11 A.M. Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Phil was born on January 6, 1947 to John Leland Wallace and Dora Orman Wallace in Somerville, Tennessee. He was predeceased by his parents.
Phil is survived by two sons, Randy Wallace (Mollie) and Michael Wallace (Misty), his grandsons, Deuce, Chase, Michael, Dylan, granddaughters, Chloe and Sierra, and great grandson, Oliver. Survivors also include Marcella VanPelt, Phil’s significant other for over 20 years, her children, Jodi VanPelt Brock (Steve), Eric VanPelt and her grandchildren Ashley Reuter, Aaron Brock and James VanPelt. Phil’s two sisters, Margaret Wallace Dennie and Jan Wallace Doyle (Rudy) survive. He is also survived by Mitzi W Hand, the mother of his children, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He attended Oakland Elementary School and Fayette County High School in Somerville, Tennessee. Phil was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church (Now Faith United Methodist Church). He spent his working career in designing and installing air quality control systems. He and Marcella VanPelt were partners in the company A-1 Design Air Systems, Inc. until his retirement in June, 2014 when he became ill.
