LENA KATHERINE MORGAN PARADISE, resident of the Macon Community in Fayette County and wife of the late Clifford M. Paradise, died at 8 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2008 at her residence on Hwy. 193. She was 88 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Paradise were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday April 30th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland with Rev. John Ed Watkins, pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Oakland Cemetery at Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Paradise was born November 23, 1919, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Tom Morgan and the late Pearlie Bethalena Blackburn Morgan. Mrs. Paradise was educated in local area schools and was the wife of Clifford M. Paradise, retired employee of Mid-South Refrigerated Warehouse Company, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Paradise was a homemaker and in the 1940's was employed as a seamstress for the Naval Air Station fabricating the wings for the Stearman Duster Trainer Planes during World War II. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Memphis and will be remembered for her love of flea markets and Blue's music.
Mrs. Paradise is survived by two sons, Vernon Paradise (Martha) of Somerville, James L. Paradise (Brenda) of Macon; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Randy Hailey, Alfred Hailey, Jimmy Scott, Dave Coghill, Morgan Paradise and Kevin Anderson.
