Lenora Elizabeth Darnell Morris, age 87, resident of the Macon Community and wife of the late Alton Eugene Morris, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2015 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Morris were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Ray Peters officiating. The eulogy was given by Jeff Brown. Interment followed in the Macon Cemetery in the Macon Community and music was led by Gary Perkins. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Morris was born May 3, 1928 in Somerville. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was the wife of Alton Eugene Morris. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and a homemaker throughout her life. Mrs. Morris was of the Church of Christ faith and enjoyed gardening, joking, preparing food and making jams and jellies.
Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter, Judy Elaine Morris of Somerville; two sons, Kenneth Eugene Morris (Marsha) of Olive Branch, MS, Ronald Edward Morris of the Macon Community; her brother, Arthur Ray Darnell (Mavis) of Oakland; two grandchildren, Jon Eric Beshires (Vivian) of Murfreesboro, Mackenzie Morris of Olive Branch, MS; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Eugene Morris who died in 1991 and her parents, Lester C. Darnell and Hattie Ann Clemmons Darnell.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Mark Hoing, Wayne Wright, Kevin Yancey, Jimmy Houston, Johnny Houston and Donnie Peak.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
