Leona Jane (Diffee) Graham

March 15, 1914 — July 22, 2014

Leona Jane Diffee Graham, age 100, lifelong resident of Fayette County and wife of the late Buck Graham, departed this life Tuesday evening, July 22, 2014 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services for Mrs. Graham were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, July 25th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment followed in the Rehobeth Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Graham was born March 15, 1914 in Williston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Diffee and Addie Price Diffee. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1931 and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin Business School. She was married January 19, 1941 to Buck Graham, a retired Fayette County Sheriff, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2003.

Mrs. Graham was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was a longtime member of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Morris Lumber Company for many years before her retirement in 1972. She was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 5013. Known to many as "Mama Graham", her interests included special times with her family and friends, gardening and preparing food.

Mrs. Graham is survived by her daughter, Rose Wainscott (Mike) of Hickory Withe; her son, Danny Graham (Theresa) of Oakland; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Jane Skelton who died April 8, 2000; and two sisters, Lillian Ballard and Euphenia Cooper.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Elliott Lambert, E.H. Steinert, Burnell Skelton, Henry Diffee, Rube Rhea, Jr., Chuck Dacus and Eddie Niles.

Honorary casketbearers were Hank Herron, Alex Moore and Bobby Morris.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, 12940 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
