LESLIE ROBERT HUNT, a resident of Feathers Chapel Drive in Fayette County and United States Navy Veteran, died at 12:54 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was 72 years of age and died following a two month illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Hunt were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 2nd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Ron Grunewald, Pastor of the Gallaway First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, with military honors, followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.
Mr. Hunt was a native of Ohio and was born September 24, 1935. He was educated in the Ohio public school system and was a graduate of the Marion, Ohio High School. He was a resident of Shelby County before moving to Fayette County twenty years ago.
He was of the Protestant Faith and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Period. In earlier years, he was employed by the Commissary at the Millington Naval Base, by the Greyhound Bus Station in Memphis and later was employed by Fayette Packing Company at Hickory Withe.
His interests included military activities, billiards and fishing. He will be remembered for his patriotism and as a history buff.
Survivors of Mr. Hunt include his companion, Deanna Moore of Somerville; his daughter, Debbie Monfee of Memphis and two grandsons, Danny Hunt and Daniel Hunt.
Family members and friends served as casketbearers.
The family request that memorials be directed to the organization or charity of the donor's choice.
