Lexie Louise (Price) Thomas

August 6, 1928 — January 8, 2015

Lexie Louise Price Thomas, age 86, lifelong resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Alfred Franklin Thomas, departed this life Thursday morning, January 8, 2015 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Thomas were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, January 10th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Gene Price officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Phil Lovelace and personal remarks were given by Kalynn Bearden. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Thomas was born August 6, 1928 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert M. Price and Sarah Lumiza Davis Price. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1947 and was married October 4, 1959 to Alfred Franklin Thomas, who preceded her in death on November 19, 2002.

Mrs. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Fayette County and was a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and was involved in the Gracie Philips WMU Circle, the Royal Heirs Singers and the Fayette Gospel Singers. She received much pleasure in cooking, working with flowers, hummingbirds, going to the beach and special times with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Sara Oates Kiser (Johnny W.) of Mooresville, NC, Nancy C. Thomas (Mike) of Somerville; two sons, Charles Oates of Bartlett, Steven F. Thomas (Joy) of Stanton, TN; her sister, Sue Price Graham (Pete) of Lexington, TN; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Raymond Kelley, Sherman Adair, Tommy Markle, John Treadway, Scott Bearden and Ben Hudson.

Honorary casketbearers were Robert Boyd Parker, Henry Diffee, Warren Adams, Jr. and Rodney Thomas.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Baptist Church, 12685 South Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
