Lillie Pearl (Jacobs) McCaskill

November 7, 1916 — October 8, 2010

Lillie Jacobs McCaskill, longtime  resident of the Williston Community and wife of the late Joel W. McCaskill died Friday morning, October 8, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville where she had been a patient for two days. She was 93 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. McCaskill were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel at Somerville with Rev. Jim McKinney and Rev. Larry Kendrick, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery on the Somerville LaGrange Road. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes – Main Chapel of Somerville.

A lifelong resident of Fayette County, Mrs. McCaskill was born November 7, 1916. She was the last survivor of eleven children of the late Richard Thomas Jacobs and Sallie Mullikin Jacobs. Mrs. McCaskill was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married December 31, 1937 to Joel W. McCaskill, retired Service Manager for Burnett Chevrolet Company at Somerville and WWII Army Veteran who died January 24, 1989.

Mrs. McCaskill was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the Somerville Manufacturing Company and the Troxel Manufacturing Company of Moscow. She had been a resident of the Williston Community since 1956 and was a devoted member of the Williston United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCaskill’s life centered around her family, church and community.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Smith (Dwight), Donna Fortune (David), Sheila McConnell, Carl McCaskill (Julie) and Gary McCaskill (Martha), all of Williston, a special niece who assisted in caring for her, Bonnie Compton (Ralph) of Cordova, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Williston United Methodist Church, 6180 Railroad Street, Williston, TN 38076 or the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Association.
