Linda Gail Roser, longtime resident of the Oakland Community, retired banker and wife of Jimmy Leon Roser died Tuesday evening, November 6, 2012 at her residence. She was 65 years of age and died following an illness of six months.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Mrs. Roser was from 2 to 4 Saturday afternoon, December 1st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Roser was born November 24, 1946 in Wynne, Arkansas, the daughter of the former Clara Mae Baker and the late Wilson R. Rooker. She moved at an early age with her family to memphis and received her education in the Memphis Public School System. She later graduated from the School of Banking at Louisiana State University. Mrs. Roser was employed by the Oakland Deposit Bank for 30 years and was a Vice President of the bank at the time of her retirement 15 years ago.
She was married February 14, 1980 to Jimmy Leon Roser, a supervisor for the Standard Construction Company, who survives. She was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as an avid animal activitist with a special concern for rescuing animals and caring for them. Her interests also included flowers, gardening, horses, crossword puzzles and special times with family members and friends.
In addition to her husband of 32 years, Mrs. Roser is survived by her daughter, Terri Bass Austin of Oakland; her mother, Clara Byrd of Oakland; her sister, Rene Nelson of Bartlett; her granddaughter, Scarlett Austin; one niece, three nephews, three great nieces and two great nephews.
