Linville Quay Wilson, age 84, resident of the Rossville Community and husband of Kathleen McKinney Wilson, departed this life Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2015 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Wilson were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, April 13th at the Rossville United Methodist Church with Bro. Roger Joseph, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Bartlett. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Wilson was born August 22, 1930 in Thaxton, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Caleb Wilson and Fannie Mae Grisham Wilson. He received his education in the LaFayette County, Mississippi Public School System and was a graduate of Thaxton High School Class of 1948. He was married June 8, 1952 to the former Kathleen G. McKinney, who survives.
Mr. Wilson was a former resident of Memphis before moving to the Rossville Community in 1988. He was employed as a department supervisor for Orgill Brothers in Memphis before his retirement in 1992. In the mid 1960’s he made his profession of faith and was baptized. He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. Mr. Wilson enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, working in his yard, building things and fishing in his earlier years. He received much pleasure in special times with his family members and friends, country and gospel music and playing his mandolin and banjo.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Mr. Wilson is survived by two daughters, Diane Wilson Fletcher (Bill) of Lakeland, Sandra Wilson Mahoney of Rossville; two brothers, Travis Wilson (Joyce) of Thaxton, MS, Ralph Wilson (Jane) of Thaxton, MS; two grandchildren, Jonathan Fletcher (Lane) of Bartlett, Elesa Fletcher Potter (Scott) of Bartlett; seven great grandchildren, Emma, Lauren, Riley, Luke, Christian, Maddie, Sonnie; a host of nieces and nephews; and his longtime family friends, Shirley Krampf, Joy Ozbirn and Nancy and Charlie Loftiss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Greg Mahoney; five brothers, James Wilson, Clay Dean Wilson, John Wilson, Ike Wilson, Dee Wilson and his longtime family friends, Charles Ozbirn and John Krampf.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jonathan Fletcher, Scott Potter, Herman Peele, Bubba Young, Wayne McKinney and Carl McKinney.
