"Little Jake" Allen, Jr.

August 20, 1961 — May 8, 2014

J.W. “Little Jake” Allen, Jr., resident of the Moscow Community and lifelong resident of Fayette County, departed this life Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2014 at his residence. He was 52 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Allen were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, May 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Jack Gresham, pastor of the Macon First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Allen was born August 20, 1961 in Somerville, the son of J.W. Allen, Sr. and the former Florence Thompson. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the Moscow and Somerville areas. He was a member of the Macon First Baptist Church and had been retired for a number of years for health reasons.

Mr. Allen enjoyed motorcycles and automobile repairs in earlier years. When health permitted, he was a racecar driver and will be remembered for his collection of eagle statues.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Tanya Allen of Brownsville; his daughter, Jordan Lynn Allen of Brownsville; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Allen of Moscow, Joseph Michael Allen of Olive Branch, MS; two stepsons, Logan Williford of Brownsville, Zachary Williford of Brownsville; his parents, J.W. Allen, Sr. (Louise) of Moscow, Faye Jones (Robert) of Moscow; three sisters, Deborah Waldrop (Grady) of Ashland, MS, Jerry Lung (Roger) of Panama City, FL, Carrie McClain (Robert) of Albuquerque, NM; his brother, Jonathan Allen of Moscow; and four grandchildren, Daniel Joe Cannon, Trinity Melody Kennon, Makenzye Jo Allen and Maecyn Clare Allen.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Allen.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Billy McClure, Jimmy Allen, Steven Earwood, Jonathan Allen, Randy Glover and Jeremy McClure.

Honorary casketbearers were Eddie Stafford, Ellis Vogt, Richard Allen, Gary Howell and Noah Harris.
