LOIS HUNTER HAYES MARSHALL, a former resident of the Macon Community and wife of the late James O. Marshall, Sr., died at 12:15 A.M. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee. She was 90 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marshall were conducted at 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 27th at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. James Cypress officiating. He was assisted by Joshua David and Emile David. Interment followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery-East on Whitten Road in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Marshall was born April 13, 1918 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James William Hayes and the late Dora Cornelia Williams Hayes. She was educated in the Tennessee Public School System and was married November 7, 1958 to James Olain Marshall, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Marshall was a homemaker and a former resident of Ripley, Mississippi, and Memphis, before moving to Fayette County in 1972. She was a member of the Macon Church of Christ and she will be remembered for her love of flower gardening, sewing, quilting and special times with her grandchildren.
Survivors of Mrs. Marshall include her daughter, Brenda M. David of Germantown; her step-daughter, Martha Folsom of Oakland, TN; her step-son, James Olain Marshall, Jr. of Chattanooga; her sister, Jessie Watts of Memphis and three grandchildren: Joshua David (Stephanie), Jenna David and Rebekah David.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Joshua David, David Pryor, Michael Pryor and Sidney Guest.
