Lowell Fay Rogers, age 81, resident of Como, Mississippi, former resident of Fayette County and husband of Bonnie Jean Comer Rogers, departed this life Sunday morning, May 1, 2016 at the Merit Healthcare Batesville in Batesville, Mississippi.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Rogers will be conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with interment in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community. A visitation for Mr. Rogers will be from 9 to 11 A.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Rogers was born October 31, 1934 in Fayette County. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married August 16, 1997 to the former Bonnie Jean Comer. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Como, Mississippi and was a lifelong resident of the West Tennessee and North Mississippi areas. Mr. Rogers was employed at Troxel as a maintenance manager for 19 years and with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department before retiring in July of 1997. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife of almost 19 years, Bonnie Jean Rogers of Como, Mississippi; two daughters, Camille Rogers of Oakland, Anita Hughes of Oakland; two sons, Eddie Rogers and his wife, Della, of Como, Mississippi, Robert Rogers of Oakland; three stepdaughters, Sherolyn Van Dalen of Joshua, Texas, Kathryn Sanchez of Blue Mound, Texas, Michelle Dempsey and her husband, George, of Saginaw, Texas; his stepson, Earl Campbell and his wife, Angie, of Blue Mound, Texas; his sister, Sue Shelby of Oakland; two brothers, Jerry Rogers and his wife, Eva Nell, of Somerville, Jimmy Rogers and his wife, Joan, of Somerville; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Edward Rogers and Ethel Stainback Rogers; his son, Gene Rogers; three brothers, Billy Rogers, Jack Rogers, Earl Rogers; and his son-in-law, Larry Hughes.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Glenn Alan Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Jr., Terry German, Randy Webb, Billy Webb and Jerry Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Rogers and Little Robbie Rogers.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 87 County Road 523, Como, Mississippi 38619.
