Mellie Lucile Abernethy Terry (Mrs. Chesley Orr Terry) died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the age of 90 at the Dove Health Care Center in Collierville.
Lucile was born October 3, 1922, in Algoma, Mississippi, the last of nine children of Dr. Eddie Greenland Abernethy and Mellie Steen Holland Abernethy. She was married to Chesley Orr Terry, who preceded her in death in 1984. A long-time member of Shady Grove Presbyterian Church, she was employed as a medical transcriptionist for over 30 years at the Memphis Orthopaedic Group.
Mrs. Terry loved family above all, and her grandchildren brought her great pleasure. She had a wonderful sense of humor and even in her declining years continued to be a model of love, sweetness, and strength to her daughters.
Mrs. Terry is survived by Barbara (and Dana) Henking of Eads, TN; Patricia Terry (and Ian Von Essen) of Spokane, WA, and Susan (and David) Ragsdale of Collierville, TN; as well as grandchildren Michael and Garrett Ragsdale; Ellen, Erik, and Emily Von Essen; and Evan Henking.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Terry were held at 12 Noon Tuesday, July 2nd at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church.
