Mamie Lucille Clutts, longtime resident of the Whiteville Community departed this life Friday morning, May 3, 2013 at the Laurelwood Healthcare Center in Jackson where she had been a resident for a number of years. She was 89 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Miss Clutts were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, May 6th at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Whiteville with Bro. Stephen Davison, pastor of the Central Baptist Church in Selmer officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Miss Clutts was born July 18, 1923 in the Whiteville Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilkie Clutts and Molly Lou Morris Clutts, early residents of the Mt. Moriah Community. She received her education in the Hardeman County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of West Tennessee.
Miss Clutts was a lifelong member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was a very simple and humble lady who will be remembered by her love of Jesus Christ, her love of family and home. She is now free from earthly pain and illness and is in the hands of her Eternal Father.
Miss Clutts was the last member of her immediate family and is survived by a number of cousins and extended family members in the Whiteville area. She was also preceded in death by her brother, J.H. Trainer.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church or the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery Association, c/o Joyce Ann Pepper, 2380 Ina Road, Whiteville, TN 38075.
