LUCY JEFFRIES BRANNON

June 11, 1914 — November 23, 2009

LUCY JEFFRIES BRANNON, a resident of the Somerville Community, retired Employee of the Alabama State Board of Missions and wife of the late Stephen Brannon died Monday afternoon, November 23, 2009 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where she had resided for seventeen months. She was 95 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Graveside Funeral services for Mrs. Brannon were conducted at 12 noon Saturday, November 28th, and interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Brannon was born on June 11, 1914 in Newton, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eulalia Jeffries.

She received her education in the Alabama Public School System and was a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama before moving to West Tennessee to be near family members.

A Baptist and a person involved in Christian activities throughout her life, Mrs. Brannon served as a Representative for the Women's Missionary Union for the Alabama State Board of Missions for many years before her retirement.

Mrs. Brannon was blessed with good health throughout her life permitting her to remain active and independent until recent months.

She was the wife of Stephen F. Brannon, who preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors of Mrs. Brannon include her daughter, Sandy Harris of Bartlett; her son, Stephen F. Brannon, Jr. of Union Grove, AL; three grandchildren: Stephanie Scates of Oakland, Debbie Phillips of Bartlett and Stephen Brannon of Huntsville, AL and two great-grandchildren.
