LURLINE LAX MCQUEEN

May 29, 1927 — August 5, 2009

LURLINE LAX MCQUEEN, a longtime resident of the Collierville Community with extended family members in Fayette County and a retired Accountant died at 5:32 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at her home. She was 82 years of age and died following a year-and-a-half-long illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. McQueen were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 8th at the Collierville First Baptist Church with Dr. Chuck Herring, Pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery at Collierville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. McQueen was born May 29 1927 in East Chicago Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus LaFayette Lax and Mildred Lurline Anderson Lax.

She was married September 6, 1945 to Lonnie H. McQueen, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2001.

Mrs. McQueen had been a resident of the Collierville Community for sixty-two years and was a devoted member of the Collierville First Baptist Church during this time.

She served as an Accountant for the Jack Billings Ford Automobile Agency/X-L Services, Inc. in Collierville for forty-seven years before her retirement.

She was a person much loved by her family, church, community and many associates during her long years of employment.

Survivors of Mrs. McQueen include her daughter, Deborah M. Owens (Bruce) of Moscow; two sons, Jack B. McQueen, Sr. of Houston, TX and Lonnie H. McQueen, Jr. of Medon, TN; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Dell Powers of Bolivar and three brothers: Robert "Bud" Lax of Whiteville; Riley Lax of Somerville and Morris Lax of Whiteville.

The family also extends "Special Thanks" to Mrs. McQueen's caregivers, Brenda Collins and Gayle White.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Chris Collins, Tim Collins, Jack McQueen, Jr., Scott McQueen, Bruce Owens, Jr. and Gary Owens.

Les Helton and Fred Medling served as honorary casket bearers.
