LYNDA LEIGH CHAMBERS CRAFTON

December 17, 1945 — March 7, 2010

LYNDA LEIGH CHAMBERS CRAFTON, longtime resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Jimmie Eugene Crafton died Sunday afternoon, March 7, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for seven weeks. She was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crafton were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 9th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Perry Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Crafton was born December 17, 1945 in Somerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus B. Chambers and Pearl Hampton Chambers.

She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County.

Her husband, Jimmie Eugene Crafton, a Long Distance Truck Operator, preceded her in death on September 21, 1996.

Mrs. Crafton was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church and will be remembered as a person who enjoyed nature and out of door activities. She received much pleasure in caring for and being with her beloved grandsons.

Mrs. Crafton was a homemaker throughout her life and also enjoyed working at area businesses as long as health permitted.

Mrs. Crafton's survivors include her son, Steve Crafton and wife Cindy of Somerville; her sister, Julie McCaskill (Carl) of Somerville; her brother, Carol Chambers (Betty) of Somerville and two grandsons, Luke Crafton and Eli Crafton.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Carlton Chambers, Randy Chambers, Terry Chambers, Kenneth Jenkins, Ricky Jenkins, Darrell Kelley, Greg McCaskill and Gary Moore.
