Somerville, Tennessee

Lynda Karrol Starnes Flippo, age 68, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of L.W. Flippo, departed this life on Saturday morning, June 16, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Flippo were held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. John Ed Watkins, pastor of the Mercy Bridge Church in Somerville, officiating. Special music was provided by John Ed and Donna Watkins and Felicia McKnatt-Withers. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Flippo was born September 9, 1949 in Blytheville, Arkansas and graduated from Blytheville High School. She was married in 1967 to L.W. Flippo and she enjoyed cooking and any sporting event she could attend, not only to cheer her kids but everyone else’s kids also. This earned her the title of “Everybody’s MamMaw”. One of her famous quotes was “Get me a MamMaw Rip”.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 51 years, L.W. Flippo of Somerville, TN; her mother, Edna Scott of Bolivar, TN; her daughter, Tina Johnson (Mark) of Somerville, TN; her son, Jason Flippo (Kerri) of Bartlett, TN; her brother, Gene Stradley of Mt. Savage, MD; four sisters-in-law, Ruby Gilpatrick (Calvin) of Fayetteville, AR, Wanda Flippo of Heber Springs, AR, Linda Flippo of Hazen, AR, Bonnie Henderson of Lakeland, TN; her brother-in-law, Carl Flippo (Elee Grossman) of Hot Springs, AR; nine grandchildren, Josh, Amber, Austin, Kylan, Emery, Aubrey, Bailey, Colbey, Reilly; one great-grandchild, Taegan; six nieces, Angie Stoffer, Holly Tolhurst, Celeste Flippo, Vickie Morgan, Shawn Mix, Laronna Harvey; and seven nephews, Randall Gilpatrick, Mike Flippo, Ricky Capps, Tommy Flippo, Johnny Flippo, Jeffrey Flippo and Donnie Blair.

She was preceded in death by her father, Talmadge Starnes; her birth mother, Virginia Hough; her birth father, Richard Statum; two brothers, Dean Statum, Dave Stradley; three sisters, Marlene Davis, Delores Pendergrast, Norma McNay; in-laws, Carl and Gladys Flippo; two brothers-in-law, Tommy Flippo, Bobby Flippo; and one nephew, Scott Gilpatrick.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Josh Johnson, Austin Johnson, Kylan Johnson, Colbey Patton, Reilly Patton, Blake Boyles, David Todd and Donnie Blair. Honorary pallbearers were Emery Flippo, Michael Hughes and Bubba Hughes.
