Macon Doyle Campbell

July 22, 1938 — October 12, 2014

Macon Doyle Campbell, resident of the Hickory Withe Community, retired mechanic for Penske Leasing and husband of Betty Campbell, departed this life Sunday morning, October 12, 2014 at his residence. He was 76 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Campbell were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 15th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Campbell was born July 22, 1938 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Macon Douglass Campbell and Ruby Estelle Cannon Campbell. He received his education in the Memphis Catholic School System and was married August 13, 1983 to the former Betty Tucker, who survives.

Mr. Campbell was a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for 14 years and was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church. He was employed as a mechanic for Penske Leasing for 20 years before his retirement in 2009. Mr. Campbell enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography and repairing "just about anything".

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Mr. Campbell is survived by three daughters, Lisa Bowers (Joe) of Eads, Diane Smith (Thomas) of Bartlett, Anita Vanlandiham of Mississippi; his son, Charles Campbell (Susan) of Marion, AR; his sister, Martha Knichel (Billy) of Olive Branch, MS; two brothers, Bill Campbell of Clearwater Beach, FL, Bob Campbell of Naples, FL; ten grandchildren, Samerra Ghosheh, Nadiya Ghosheh, Dayonna Ghosheh, Daniel Campbell, Amber Latham, Cynthia Cothran, Sara Campbell, Brooklyn Smith, Shayne Smith, Stephanie Graves; and six great grandchildren, Charlee Campbell, Alex Latham, Aaron Cothran, Jack Graves, Nathan Smith and Trevan Sanders.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Campbell.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Daniel Campbell, Charles Campbell, Joe Bowers, Cody Workman, Shayne Smith and Thomas Smith.
