Mae Henri (Tice) Allen

October 7, 1935 — September 1, 2012

Mae Henri Tice Allen, lifelong resident of the Moscow Community and wife of Joe Allen died Saturday evening, September 1, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where she had been a patient for eleven days. She was 76 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Allen were conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, September 4th at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Moscow with Rev. David Parlow of the church officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Allen was born October 7, 1935 in Marshall County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Tice and Elizabeth McClure Tice. She moved at an early age to the Moscow area and received her education in the Fayette County Public School System. She was married June 29, 1951 to her devoted husband, Joe Allen, who survives.

Mrs. Allen was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by the Somerville Manufacturing Company and the Troxel Manufacturing Company in Moscow. She was a longtime devoted member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church and received much pleasure in preparing food for family and friends. She was an avid supporter of her children’s sports activities and enjoyed gardening.  Mrs. Allen possessed a gentle and loving spirit and was well loved by her family, friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Mrs. Allen is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann Allen of Moscow, Bobbie Allen of Moscow, Dale Crisp (John) of Moscow; her son, Charlie “Bo” Allen (Zondra) of Somerville; her sister, Ann Heaton (Ron) of Grand Junction; her brother, Billy Tice (Jody) of Moscow; six beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were John M. Crisp, Ricky “Bull” Ward, Justin Tomlinson, Barney Allen, Carl McClure, Jr., Randy Bing, David Morrison and William Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Mike McClure, Danny Rhea, James McClure, J.T. Stamper, Johnny Bryan, Tommy Vaughn, Bubba Allen, Jonathan Allen and Patrick Mitchell.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association or the Oak Grove Baptist Church, c/o Barbara Allen, 2825 Slayden Road, Moscow, TN 38057.
