Maggie Alene (Carter) Wiseman

September 24, 1921 — May 4, 2014

Maggie Carter Wiseman, resident of the Braden Community and wife of the late Malcolm Harris Wiseman, departed this life Sunday morning, May 4, 2014 at her son’s residence in Braden. She was 92 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Wiseman were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 10th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Mark Matheny, interim pastor of the Braden United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Arlington City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Wiseman was born September 24, 1921 in the Millington Community of Shelby County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee Carter and Ethel Williams Carter. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Bolton High School Class of 1939. She was married December 23, 1939 to Malcolm Harris Wiseman, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wiseman was a longtime employee of the Bond Ford Motor Company in Arlington, where she served as a secretary for over 25 years before her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Braden United Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of the Shelby and Fayette County areas. She had a special love for her grandchildren and enjoyed making homemade candy and sharing it with others. Outdoor activities that included yardworking and gardening were favorite pastimes and she also enjoyed food preparation, knitting and sewing as long as health permitted.

Mrs. Wiseman is survived by her son, Robert Harry Wiseman (Peggy) of Braden; two sisters, Jane Carter Kelley of Bartlett, Sara Carter Peterson of Mayflower, AR; her brother, Donald Carter of Bartlett; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Malcolm Richard Wiseman and Albert Carter “Skip” Wiseman.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were David Wiseman, Roger Wiseman, Mike Wiseman, Kenny Broughton, Harold Bishop and Charles Vernon.

Honorary casketbearers were Dickie Wiseman, Dusty Wiseman, Rannie Langston and Don Bishop.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Braden United Methodist Church, 230 Highway 59, Mason, TN 38049.
