MARTHA ALLEEN BAKER REDDITT, a resident of Cordova, retired Teacher and one of Jehovah's Witnesses died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at her Cordova residence. She was 89 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Redditt were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, January 9th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Edward Sherbourne, officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery on Raleigh LaGrange Road. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Redditt was born May 10, 1919 in Harrisburg Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil Grey Baker and her mother Martha Caldonia Wiseman Baker. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education she became a Teacher in the Shelby County School System where she taught for a number of years before her retirement.
Mrs. Redditt faithfully served as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years and will be remembered as a devoted mother and friend to many.
Survivors of Mrs. Redditt include her son, Cecil W. Redditt of Collierville; her step-son, Charles E. Redditt of St. Peters, Missouri; two sisters, Ona Emery of Memphis and Jean B. Markham of Cordova and her brother, Lewis H. Baker of Murfreesboro, TN.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Craig Mynatt, Mark Mynatt, Lynn Sanders, James Summerhill, Matthew Watkins and Ben Wilson.
Kevin Baker and Robert Ballard served as honorary casket bearers.
