Mansel Coe Crabtree

February 1, 1921 — March 1, 2015

Mansel Coe Crabtree, age 94, resident of Somerville, longtime resident of Adamsville, Tennessee and husband of the late Inez Crabtree, departed this life Sunday morning, March 1, 2015 at the Memphis Jewish Home.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Crabtree was conducted at 12 Noon Saturday, March 7th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Inurnment followed in the Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Crabtree was born February 1, 1921 in Selmer, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luco Crabtree and Mattie Mae Dickey Crabtree, one sister and four brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Pennock (Len) of Somerville, Robin Underwood (Bill) of Richardson, TX; two sons, Allen Crabtree of Moulton, AL, Philip Crabtree (Mae) of Atoka; his sister, Reecie Tull of Selmer; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Mr. Crabtree received his associate’s degree at State Tech in Memphis and was the husband of 67 years to Inez Crabtree, who preceded him in death. He was employed as a general foreman at Fruehauf Trailer Company in Memphis for a number of years before his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Shriners International and a 33rd Degree Mason. Mr. Crabtree was a resident of Adamsville for many years before moving to Somerville and he enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
